The upcoming 2019 model isn't completely new, and so it won't be the first time we have seen the Ford Ranger. 2011 marked the pickup truck's brief end, with Ford only now resuming production in the form of the 2019 Ford Ranger. Here’s a few fun facts about the Ford Ranger when it first came out. more 1983 Ford Ranger The Ford Ranger made its first appearance as a 1983 model, when the market for small pickup trucks was dominated primarily by brands from Japan, such as Mazda. The two-wheel drive Ranger came out mid-1982, while the four-wheel-drive version was released in fall. As you might expect in an older model, the horsepower and torque of the Ford Ranger weren’t much to look at by today’s standards. It had a 2.3L 4cyl engine that gave 80 horsepower. There were 4 trims for this pickup truck; base, XL, XLS, and XLT. If you had driven a Ford Ranger back then, you’d only have 2 options for wheelbase and bed; a 108-inch wheelbase truck with a 6-foot bed, or a 114-inch wheelbase truck that had a 7-foot bed. There were actually three transmission options; the standard was a 4-speed manual transmission. The other two optional transmissions were a 5-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic. The 1983 4x4 Ford Ranger could haul 1,600 pounds, which actually wasn’t too shabby. No matter what you order at the Busy Bee, it will come out cooked to perfection. Daddy D'z Stop into Daddy D'z for some good old barbecue. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that stop you from going in. Make sure to get the ribs or the 1/2 chicken, and get the mac and cheese to go with it. This place also serves a fantastic cornbread, and the collard greens are delicious. The hot sauce has just the right amount of kick, and the seasonings on the meat are just right. If this is your first stop in, you also need to try the que-wraps. These are a fried barbecue eggroll that comes with barbecue sauce for dipping. The servers at Daddy D'z are warm and friendly, and you can always count on a good meal. Paschal's Restaurant Pashcal's is the place to go if you're looking for home cooking in a more upscale atmosphere. Some of the traditional menu options include fried chicken, potato salad, and fried okra. You can also get a side of mac and cheese or fried green tomatoes. Head here for the Sunday brunch, and you can choose from a wide variety of options at the different stations for breakfast, comfort food, and salads. Taylor-Brawner Park Taylor-Brawner Park has lots of green space, a play area, and a walking path. There is a gazebo with picnic tables if you want to stop and have a picnic lunch, and there's a playground for the kids. This is a beautifully landscaped space, it is always clean, and the open space makes it fun for kids or anyone else who want to play a game of soccer or Ultimate Frisbee. The walking and biking trails provide a place for everyone to get some exercise. You can head here on a Tuesday for Food Truck Tuesday, or you can bring your own food to have a budget-friendly lunch. Brinkley Park Spend a relaxing afternoon at Brinkley Park. Sit and watch the kids play at the playground, or go for a walk on the walking trail. In the spring, you'll probably run into a T-ball game or a Little League Baseball game, so make sure to stop and cheer on the kids. There is some great open space for running and playing, and restrooms are conveniently located right on site. This is another park that has a covered pavilion for those who want to get out of the sun. You can even contact the city of Smyrna to reserve it for a birthday party or any other family get-together. The Ford F-150 is an iconic pickup truck that made its debut back in 1975. Since its first appearance over 40 years ago, this truck and its heavy-duty brothers have sat at the top of the sales charts. The F-150 is part of the sixth generation of Ford trucks, and this is the generation that changed everything. Here is the impressive story behind the F-150. The First Generation The first generation of Ford trucks were known as Ford Bonus-Built trucks, and they arrived in 1948 right after World War II. The trucks had manual transmissions, separate windshield wipers for the driver's side and the passenger's side — which was very innovative at the time — and a foot-plunger windshield washer. more The Sixth Generation The sixth generation of Ford trucks started in 1973 and lasted until 1979. Ford introduced the F-150 in 1975 as part of this generation in order to fill the gap between the F-100 and the F-250. The manufacturer created a truck that was a heavier-duty model than the F-100 but not as powerful as the F-250. The year it debuted, the F-150 made up of over one-third of the F-Series sales. The First F-150 Features The 1975 Ford F-150 came only with two-wheel drive, but you could choose between a regular cab and a SuperCab body style. Ford offered a choice of engines including the 300 cubic-inch six-cylinder, the 390 cubic-inch V-8, or the 460 cubic-inch V-8. Since this was a more heavy-duty truck than the F-100, it had stronger front and rear axles and heavier springs. All the F-150's also had power brakes, but Ford didn't fit them with a catalytic converter like the F-100. The 10th Generation The 10th generation of Ford trucks is important because it was the generation that split the F-150 from the F-250 and the F-350. The F-150 became a personal use truck, and Ford classified the other two models as work trucks. The 1993 model hit showroom floors with a new aerodynamic design, making it more streamlined. This version of the truck had a smoother ride and better fuel economy, and a V-6 engine replaced the 4.9-liter for more power. The 2018 F-150 For its 40th birthday, Ford gave the F-150 another significant update. The 2018 model has a new 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V-6 engine which works with a 10-speed automatic transmission and produces 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. All the gas engines also received upgrades for the new year that include a new twin-injection system. Ford even redesigned the front end of the 2018 F-150 and gave the rear end a new look. Interior upgrades for this model include the latest SYNC 3 infotainment system and updated connectivity features. The Ford F-150, along with its counterparts, is one of the best-selling picks on the market. SunTrust Park is the brand-new home of the Atlanta Braves. It opened for its first regular season game on April 14, 2017, to a sellout crowd. The park offers a plethora of things to do before, during, and after the game to keep you constantly entertained. Artwork in the Ballpark SunTrust Park is filled with art from various artists almost anywhere you look, so try to catch a glimpse of some of these popular works. Tomahawk, which was designed by Jason Williams, is built out of over 17,000 LEGO bricks and located in the corridor of the main entrance. In the Champions Suites, there are more than 30 paintings and prints by Richard Sullivan that depict all three Brave's world championships. Ross Rossin is the sculptor behind the statue of Hank Aaron hitting his 715th home run, which is located right in the center of the Monument Garden. more Alumni Sundays Every Sunday game at SunTrust Park holds a surprise for lifelong fans of the Braves. Alumni of the Braves come to the Georgia Power Pavilion in The Plaza at 11:30 a.m. to sign autographs for an hour. Lines start early, and not everyone is guaranteed to get their favorite piece of memorabilia signed, so be sure to get there early. Monument Garden Monument Garden is located in the lower level near section 125 and highlights the history of the Braves. You can check out the Braves Hall of Fame, where 31 members of the organization are immortalized with plaques showing their accomplishments. There is also a bat or glove to represent the 55 members of the Braves who are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Make sure to learn about the history and evolution of the 25 variations of the team uniform. Inside the Monument Garden is a special section called Memorable Braves Moments, which is filled with historical artifacts from the team. You can see the knee brace Sid Bream wore in the 1992 National League Championship Series (NLCS) game, Hank Aaron's 1974 jersey, a 1957 World Series ring, and Bob Horner's four-game-run bat and ball. Fireworks What better way to enjoy a Friday night at the ballpark than with a firework display after the game? After every Friday home game, fireworks are set off from center field. You can see the fireworks best from behind home plate. SunTrust Tour If you want to see behind the scenes at SunTrust, you can go on a tour almost any day of the year. During the baseball season, tours run Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. and on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. There are no tours on Sundays with home games or weekdays with afternoon games. During the off-season, tours are offered at the same times from Monday through Saturday. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $12 for children.
