Engine

Two engine types are available for the Transit Connect. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter GDI four-liter that produces 162 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque. A 1.5-liter I-4 diesel is an available option. The horsepower for this powertrain is 162 at 6,400 rpm, with 144 pound-feet of torque. This engine features a direct fuel-injected configuration, with fuel delivered directly into the combustion chambers, providing greater efficiency and power.

Both engines come with the same eight-speed automatic transmission and Ford's auto start-stop technology. This means that when the vehicle stops at idle, the engine turns off, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
