Trim Levels
There are five available trims for the 2019 Ford Explorer: Base, XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum. On the exterior, all Explorer models are very good looking, featuring an imposing dynamic front grille and rear LED signature lighting. Additional exterior improvements can be added with special packages, like the Sport Appearance Package or the Luxury Package on the Limited trim. They add extra exterior features such as larger allow wheels, chrome inserts, and mirror caps, black roof rack side rails, extra badges, and lots more.
Engine
There are three different engine types available for the 2019 Ford Explorer. The basic engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces a maximum of 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Next in line is a leaner, more efficient 3.5-liter V-6 Crowboot turbocharged engine with 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The top engine is a spectacular turbocharged V-6 with 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The different trim levels manage to properly cover most drivers' needs. However, when it comes to performance, the Sport trim truly lives up to its name by delivering excellent results. The turbocharged V-6 and stiffer suspensions offer great acceleration and stability, with the Explorer Sport being able to reach 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 6.3 seconds, an impressive time for a large SUV. The car's excellent brakes help the driver properly control the car, needing only 108 feet to bring the vehicle to a halt from 60 miles per hour.
Interior

All 2019 Ford Explorer's seats are comfortable, and the ride is very smooth for a vehicle that takes corners so well, even with the Sport trim. There's plenty of room inside, along with many well-placed storage spaces. The materials used are soft to touch, and the steering wheel is covered in quality leather.

The standard main display is a 4.2-inch touch screen, but it can be upgraded to a larger, 8-inch display. The connectivity options are what you would expect from a modern car, with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay supported, as well as USB connectivity and Bluetooth. For drivers that want to use the car's features while keeping their eyes on the road, there are also physical buttons, as well as Ford's Sync voice command system.

Safety Features
As expected for a large family vehicle, the 2019 Ford Explorer has excellent safety features, both active and passive. Functions like Collision Warning with Brake Support, Lane Keeping System, or Blind Spot Information System keep the driver alert of any potential danger and even apply the brakes in critical situations. Also, for moments when an unfortunate collision is inevitable, The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration awarded the Explorer five stars for safety in case of a collision.
